The Year of Eyelash Extensions
Eyelash extensions are taking the beauty industry by storm….and we have everything you need to know!
What exactly are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions can be made of synthetic, silk, or mink lashes. So how is it different than gluing on a strip of false lashes to your eyelid? With extensions, each false lash is applied one at a time using a strong, but nonharmful semi-permanent glue to attach it to each of your individual natural lashes.
Why should I get extensions?
Eyelash extensions provide a length and volume that is unattainable with makeup alone. In fact, they eliminate the need for mascara and even eyeliner, making your daily routine more effortless.
How long do they last?
Because eyelashes constantly grow or fall out, it is recommended to go in every two weeks for a “fill” where they will touch-up areas of the lashes that have fallen out or gapped.
What is the cost?
The initial full-set of lashes costs on average $150-$200. The refills, which once again are recommended monthly, cost about $50-$70 depending on the extent of the refill.
Who can I go to for eyelash extensions?
Licensed estheticians or cosmetologists can perform eyelash extensions; and many local salons have individuals who will offer this service! However, some states have separate eyelash technician training that allow those who are not licensed in esthetics or cosmetology to perform them as well. Rest assured, no matter who you visit for extensions, they must uphold a license that maintains they have completed training.
