When we think of stylists in the beauty industry – hairstylists, makeup artists, manicurists, etc. – we often think of women. It is not a secret that this field is female dominated and it is commonly stereotyped that the beauty industry is most fitting just for women.

However, our Manicuring student Brandan helped break that stereotype when he proudly joined a group of over forty fellow beauty students as the only male. Instead of feeling nervous or insecure, Brandan was confident in his choice and never looked back. He has since mastered manicures and pedicures and even developed regular clients of his own.

Joining a school of women to pursue a passion of nails never bothered Brandan, in fact, he never even thought twice about it. He feels being a part of the beauty industry does not make him any less masculine, but rather gives him the opportunity to channel his artistic ability into something that means a lot to him and his family.

“Nails, and anything in the beauty industry for that matter, are not just for girls alone. I hope that I can help show other men that it does not make them feminine to pursue their passions in the beauty industry. Everyone has a right to do what they love, and I hope men don’t allow stereotypes to get in the way.” -Brandan Le, Mason Anthony Manicuring Student

For all the men out there who are cautious to take the first step in pursuing their passion in the beauty industry – let Brandan be your inspiration! Anyone is welcome in the industry and anyone is welcome at Mason Anthony!
