When it comes to your hair, skin, and nails, it can be tough to figure out what is fact and what is fiction. Let’s set the record straight once and for all on these three beauty myths.

Myth #1 : Regularly trimming your hair helps it to grow faster.

This beauty myth is in fact false. Regular trims are healthy for your hair and can help the appearance to be shinier, thicker, and show less breakage. To keep your hair looking healthy, it is recommended to get a trim every 8-12 weeks. However, there is no correlation to trims and the speed at which your hair grows, since it goes from the follicles in your scalp.

Myth #2 : You should always file your nails in the same direction.

This beauty myth is true. Filing your nails in the same direction is the best way to help them grow long and healthy. When you file in different directions, this can cause nail cracking, breaking, and peeling. Letting a nail technician file your nails with a trip to the salon is the best way to keep them on the right growth track.

Myth #3 : You can shrink your pore size.

This beauty myth is false. Once your pores have expanded, they actually cannot shrink in size. However, you can make it appear as though your pores are smaller by using certain beauty tricks. First and foremost, clear pores appear smaller than clogged ones, so aim to keep your skin clean and use acne fighting products that contain salicylic acid. It is also important to wear sunscreen regularly, blot oily skin, and receive regular facial treatments to keep your skin hydrated and rejuvenated.
